Vintage notes - May
As many of you know we now have a few vintage pieces that are for sale in the shop. These items are all examples of great design and manufacture from Ercol to Limoges and are also a reminder of some of the lost skills of our china and glass industries.
We have a set of 4 tea plates made by New Chelsea for Thomas Goode, hand decorated and signed by James Hodgkiss. He was art director and designer at Wedgewood and then New Chelsea in the early 20th Century. Decorators served a 7 year apprenticeship and learnt all aspects painting, guilding and decorating. Each is a work of art.
