I couldn’t resist popping some pots of faux narcissus in the window today - a little sign of spring. My bulbs are just showing but next door the daffodils are nearly out. I hope you’ve all stayed dry today, not a nice one to be out gardening for sure - faux plants come into their own at this time of year.

So good to see blue sky today ☀️ as we did one

So good to see blue sky today ☀️ as we did one of the wonderful walks from our front door. I couldn’t quite believe that this farm track was once the road from Bath to Salisbury 😮 but this post told the tale. Now sadly it’s quite churned up by off road vehicles who seem to delight in driving on the green verges which will soon match the muddy puddle ridden centre. There were also drinks cans and sandwich packets jettisoned in the grass which just makes me so 😡 I’m not sure why we should equip ourselves with gloves and bags to pick up after others but it’s the only way to ensure the safety of wildlife and the continuing pleasure for walkers.

I can’t usually keep up with all these social media hashtag days but know that it’s #teacuptuesday ☕️ today and that makes finding a photo for Instagram pretty easy in lockdown as the house is full of vintage and antique treasures that I’ve found over the years. This trio is an Aynsley one - I usually think of Aynsley as having made standard household fayre but they could also turn their very expert hands to hand painting 🌸 beautiful 🌼 floral designs 🌺 and gilding too. There’s a crack in one of the cups but they sit in a lit cupboard in the kitchen alongside my etched glass collection and their only job is to look gorgeous which , I’m sure you’ll agree, they do with ease .

A cloud of steam rising on a frosty morning ❄️ Hope that you’re managing to keep warm through this cold spell! As the daily news is all about staying at home and not venturing out too far our walks have been in the surrounding countryside and once again I feel so lucky to be sitting out this lockdown in beautiful Wiltshire. The house is getting a little more attention than usual but next week I’ll be finalising my draft @gisela_graham Christmas decs order, talking to @unstuckdesign about further website improvements and looking at new spring stock for March.

The key to surviving lockdown is definitely to get out and get some fresh air so I’m making sure that I do that as often as possible. Today I’ve started on our stock take and have been looking at Christmas 2021 - it will be our 39th Christmas window display and I’m thinking ...... well you’ll have to wait and see 😉
